Do hakkos keep your tube and the water sparkling? There are other things that will substitute for a Hakko with no consequence. ACs are cool, but Carbon works better with a bigger crew and you want to keep the tube clean. I also use it when I go on road trips when cleaning my tube after every use isn't a realistic option. |

rice doesnt have the porosity and natural filtering capabilities charcoal\carbon does |

I've seen people use rice in pillbottle a/c's and more recently instead of carbon. I personally have used it in both but prefer the rice in the carbon adapter. Maybe it doesn't filter like carbon but I personally hate the taste of carbon, whereas rice doesn't taste like crap but keeps the glass clean at the same time. |

would it be better to put a carbon filter below an ashcatcher? that way the carbon doesn't risk getting burnt? |

^^ Only if u don't mind the taste of the carbon. And ur keeping ur a/c clean by puting the carbon above it. but thats where i use rice instead |
