Default Leaves are strange

Hi TC,

I'm still a bit of a novice grower, this is my second season. I made this thread because I've become concerned about my ladies. The leaves are kind of wonky, pardon my ignorance of pot anatomy, but only the middle spikeleaf/thing/what have you is present. Towards the bottom of the plants, the leaves look like any regular marijuana leaves, but past a certain point on the stalk they change to singular bladed leaves. I'm not a scientist but this can't be at all good for the process of photosynthesis, although the bud yield and quality is looking decent.

So I'm wondering where I went wrong. My friend gave me the seends, the strain(s) unknown, although one of them seems to be an indica. Last season I used seeds from some company from the Netherlands, and they all looked perfectly healthy by the flowering stage. Could it be shitty genetics?

But another thing I did differently this year was use plant fertilizer. During their vegetative stages of growth I applied a reasonable amount of plant fertilizer, and though I don't think I overdid it, something in my intuition as a part-time gardener tells me the food may have something to do with it?

I'm afraid I don't have any pictures to further evince my problem since I don't have a camera at the moment but please if you have any ideas as to where I went wrong this season, clue me in.

Shitty genes, lack of light, stress.... all causes, if the rest of the plant is growing fine don't even worry about it. They should even grow outta it.

shit i had one like that once and it actually worked out to my benefit the leaves threw my grandfather off of the plant we were growing on the back porch at the time, it'll be funk if you take care of her, if you any where around fl this would be a great camouflage for clones in the outdoor setting IMO. if not use it to your advantage.

Good to know that it's nothing too detrimental though, I'll try to get pictures soon. Two of the plants in particular look pretty comical... like the fucking scraggly-ass Christmas tree in Dr. Seus' How The Grinch Stole Christmas lol.

most plants start to have less blades on each leaf the further they get into flower. when you say unknown genetics do you mean bagseed or good seeds (from a reputable breeder) that got mixed up or unlabeled.. if bagseed my first guess is it either wants to autoflower or is just reacting to the ever changing photo period. remember every strain has a different flowering time depending on what part or parts of the world the genetics come from. so different strains will flower at different times based on when they think fall is approaching. most strains on my part of the map will begin their flower cycle around august 14th but some strains can begin much much sooner.

pictures would definately help!
